Welcome to the Ledger® Family
Setting up your Ledger hardware wallet is the first step toward true crypto independence. With Ledger, you control your keys, your coins, and your future — securely and privately.
Let’s walk through the steps to bring your new device online safely.
1. Download Ledger Live
Ledger Live is your control center for digital assets. Always download from Ledger.com/Start® to avoid scams or phishing clones.
- Choose your operating system and download Ledger Live.
- Verify the file’s digital signature before installing.
- Open the app and connect your Ledger device.
2. Initialize Your Device
Once connected, power up your Ledger Nano X, S Plus, or Stax. You’ll be guided through the secure setup process directly on your device screen.
- Set up a strong and memorable PIN code.
- Write down your 24-word recovery phrase — this is your only backup.
- Keep your recovery sheet offline and never share it digitally.
3. Add Accounts and Crypto
Ledger Live lets you manage thousands of coins and tokens all from one interface. Easily install apps and monitor your portfolio in real time.
- Install apps for Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other supported coins.
- Use “Receive” to generate verified addresses on your Ledger device.
- Always confirm transactions directly on-screen before sending.
4. Keep Your Device Secure
Your security is Ledger’s top priority. Follow these safety rules to keep your crypto safe:
- Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
- Check firmware updates only inside Ledger Live.
- Beware of fake websites and support requests.
- Enable “Passphrase” feature for extra protection.
